I am a database architect with over 12 years of experience. I have been architecturing, designing, developing and managing low, medium and large scale database applications since Jan 2001. Over the past 12 years I have extensively worked across all Oracle Database versions starting from version 8i till the latest 11G. Over a brief period of about 1.5 years, I also worked on MySQL database. Have been helping out friends from time to time on SQL Server and have migrated a Sybase database to Oracle.
Other than databases, I have also dabbled in Oracle Forms and Reports, ASP3.0 and VB6.0, .NET and C#, HTML, Javascript, UNIX Shell Scripting, Informatica and most recently, Oracle Apex. As a result I am able to understand not just the database in isolation but the overall complexities involved in creating a well designed, efficient and functional database application.
Over the years I have worked in the capacity of a developer, a modeller, a designer, a database administrator and an architect. Have designed both OLTP as well as reporting applications as well as applications that were a combination of both. Have also worked on ETL platforms and done database re-engineering.
Specifically in Oracle, I have gained expertise in PLSQL development, Designing and Modelling, and Performance Tuning. Have worked on advanced concepts like Advanced Queues, Materialized Views, Fine Grained Access Control, Application Contexts, Data Encryption, Signals. Have also dabbled in DBA activities like installation, backups using RMAN, archiving and Cloning.
